Ghostfinders – The Movie

I’ve wanted to be a filmmaker my whole life. I made my first short film with my dad’s 8mm when I was five years old and have, in one form or another, been doing it ever since. It’s something that’s always been important to me; I’ve written an average of one feature film a year for the past 12 years. Unfortunately, I don’t have a lot to show for my efforts – mainly just a few drawers full of projects I was too unhappy with to let see the light of day.

I had my first little bit of “success” (emphasis on the quotes) a couple of years ago, when I was hired to write a western feature film which ended up being picked up and released by Lionsgate films as SIXGUN (Not my title, but by the time it made it to screen, very little of my original ideas remained). I decided to follow that movie up with my first feature film since a failed attempt when I was eighteen.

For years I’d had the idea that, with the right approach and the right script, it would be possible to produce a feature film in an extremely short period of time for relatively little money. Whilst I’m not able to divulge the budget figures at this point, me and my small cast and crew (with a generous amount of help from my parents) managed to complete the entire production phase of my new movie in just 7 days. The result: Ghostfinders, a movie about a team of television ghost hunters who have their first encounter with a real-life haunting. I mentioned it a few weeks ago in the post about my current projects.

Post-production has been a slow process, due to some personal issues and also to the fact that I’m handling the bulk of the editing, sound, effects, etc. on my own, but it’s finally nearing completion. The experiment with unconventional shooting techniques was, I think, a huge success, thanks in large part to an absolutely phenomenal cast and crew. However, the real test will be finding a distributor for the movie.

If I’m successful in getting it placed, I’ve already got some great ideas for how to take things to the next level for my next movie. If not, well… I’ll cross that road if and when the time comes. In the meanwhile, enjoy these behind the scenes photos and stay tuned for the first teaser trailer coming soon.
